Apple Sits As World’s Largest Chip Buyer

Apple is holding strong as the dominant leader in the global electronics supply chain and is expected to make the gap between itself and other companies even larger by becoming the largest buyer of chips in the world, spending an estimated $28 billion in 2012 alone. Apple releases redesigned iMac with bigger screen

Apple’s latest iMac is being called the biggest redesign in iMacs since 2012.

Apple is known for being on the cutting edge of design and technology, which is why it might be surprising to some the Cupertino company hasn’t updated the design of the iMac for nine years. However, the 21.5-inch iMac has mostly stood the test of time even when the MacBook Air finally got a redesign in 2018.

So let’s discuss the new, the old, and the nostalgic when it comes to Apple’s latest 24” iMac.

Now in color

Previously, if you wanted to get a current Mac in color, your only option was a Macbook Air or Pro in gray, silver, or gold. If you loved the consumer-friendly candy-colored CRT monitors when Apple released them back in 1999, the new iMac will provide you with some sentimentality.

Whether Apple was trying to improve our moods amidst the pandemic or give a nod to the 1999 iMac G3 series, we’re not sure, but it’s good to see Apple going back to their colorful roots. But an array of colors aren’t the only improvements that Apple has included in its much-anticipated iMac update.

Even bigger changes

If shiny colors weren’t enough to convince you to upgrade your iMac, we don’t blame you — but there’s a lot more than color to be excited about.

Apple has slimmed the bezels in favor of a larger, 24-inch screen. Although the screen is larger, the new iMac fits into roughly the same space. The new 24-inch screen displays at 4.5K resolution and comes with an anti-reflective coating much like the Apple XDR display, which replaces the old Retina version of the 21.5-inch iMac.

If you’ve owned an iMac in the past, you’ll probably also be excited about the much-anticipated update to the iMac’s camera and microphones. With so many of us using video calls now more than ever, Apple has decided to upgrade the resolution of its in-display front-facing camera to 1080p. Not to mention its M1-optimized camera software can control lighting, color temperature, and exposure for absolutely stunning video quality.

Perfect for small spaces, the 24-inch iMac is only 11.5mm thick and is supported by a small square base, as opposed to the trapezoid that supports previous iMac iterations. With a smaller base and a thinner screen, Apple was able to lighten the 24-inch iMac — thanks in part to the M1 Chip.

M1 across the board

How will the M1 Chip affect the iMac? Since Apple has already added the M1 chipset to its Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, and Mac Mini we pretty much already know what the outcome is going to be. According to a test by CNet, the M1 Chipset outperformed the latest Intel versions of the same products.

With the new 24-inch iMac joining the MacBook Air, Macbook Pro, Mac Mini, and iPad Pro in the M1-club, the line between laptop, tablet, and desktop are becoming increasingly blurred.

While the MacBook Air used the M1 platform to go completely fanless, the new iMac uses it to replace its entire thermal system with two small fans — due to a huge upgrade in power efficiency. While the M1 Chipset provided a battery life boost in Apple’s laptops, it amounts to quieter fans and lower power consumption in the new iMac.

Summary and Options

There’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to Apple’s new iMac. Whether you’re looking forward to the sleek-looking larger screen with tiny bezels or the bright colors that remind you of booting up that old CRT near the turn of the century — Apple has designed another masterpiece.
Or perhaps you’re more excited about the combination of a new M1 chip and higher resolution screen — of course paired with Apple’s patented, M1-optimized, camera software.

Whether you’re into performance or aesthetics, this new iMac is sure to impress — and it even has a headphone jack.

Here are the configuration options for Apple’s new 24-inch iMac:

It’s almost here! Apple’s next-generation Mac Pro desktop is nearly here, just in time for the holidays. While an exact time frame hasn’t been given just yet, we do have some interesting information.

  • Apple’s Mac Pro will start at $5,999 for the desktop computer.
  • The base model features an 8-core XEON processor, 32GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon 580X dedicated graphics card.
  • It comes with a 256GB SSD but can go up to 8TB of storage — the same as the new MacBook Pro.
  • Supports up to 6 streams of 8K footage.

This mind-bogglingly fast computer may cost you a lot, but it is geared towards true pros in the development, video, and audio industries. Those who are looking for more affordable, but still professional-quality, gear will be fine with a MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, or even a Mac Mini.

The Mac Pro isn’t the only thing Apple is teasing about releasing before the holiday season. To go along with their ultra-fast computer, Apple is putting out their Pro XDR Display — the best monitor Apple has ever made.

  • The monitor goes for $4,999 with a glossy finish or $5,999 for one with anti-reflective nano-coating.
  • Price is justified, as it is on par with monitors that regularly go for $30,000+.
  • It’s a 32-inch Retina 6K display.
  • Has the ability to switch between landscape and vertical.
  • Doesn’t come with a stand — to pair with one it’s $999, or a mounting adapter for walls is $199.

Both of these exciting new products are scheduled to ship in December. While you’re waiting, why not explore why your business could and should be using Macbook Pro rentals to undertake new projects, use on the go, or increase general productivity.

When your team is undertaking a new project or working from the field, giving them the right tools is critical to helping them get the job done. MacBook Pro rentals feature the speed, computing power, and security that your team needs to get more done faster without sacrificing the quality of their work. Here are just a few of the reasons that your business should be using MacBook Pro rentals for your next project.

Faster than ever before

Latest generation laptop rentals

The latest MacBook Pro rentals now promise up to two times faster performance than previous generations thanks to its new eight-core Intel Core processor–making it the fastest MacBook ever. This performance boost is accompanied by True Tone technology, a Retina display with 500 nits of brightness, and features macOS Mojave–the world’s most advanced operating system.

While the MacBook Pro has always been the go-to machine for creatives, the newest version’s new processors make it ideal for data processing, coding and the sciences. Xcode allows developers to compile code up to 65% faster, while scientists and researchers are able to use TetrUSS to compute complex fluid dynamics simulations up to 50% faster. Imagine how much your employees will be able to accomplish with the speed and capabilities of MacBook Pro rentals in their hands. Integrate with existing products

Integrate Macbook Pro with other Apple products

With iOS currently at the top as the most popular mobile operating software in the US, odds are a fair number of your staff have iPhones. Seamlessly integrating with your employees existing iPhones and iPads, your employees will be able to get more done. From answering texts from other team members and conducting FaceTime calls with clients directly from their MacBook Pro rental, you’ll never see more productivity from your team.

Like all Apple devices, the MacBook Pro allows users to download the tools they need directly from the App Store. If your team already has productivity apps on their other devices, they can use iTunes to sync their MacBook Pro rental with their existing iOS devices. Which means if you’ve already been using applications you’ve had to pay for, you won’t have to repurchase anything thanks to iTunes.

Better privacy and security

Most security and private Macbooks to date

Apple is preparing to launch iOS 13 for mobile devices, the latest version of its operating software, with a heavy emphasis on security and privacy. Offering users greater control of how and when their data is shared with app developers, iOS 13 promises to boost Apple’s already stellar reputation for security.

Running on macOS, the MacBook Pro has always boasted security features that allow authorized users to quickly access their machines while keeping unauthorized users out. Between the T2 Security Chip and File Vault 2, users can rest assured that their data is secure. Even if an employee misplaces their MacBook Pro rental or it is stolen, File Vault 2 encrypts the entire drive, blocking unauthorized access to their data. Read Bold Privacy Claims from Apple to learn more about Apple’s commitment to keeping your data secure.

Portability that doesn’t sacrifice performance

Having this type of capability on your laptop means you can work from anywhere without sacrificing performance. If your team is undertaking a new project, our MacBook Pro rentals allow them to get more done, no matter where they’re working.

Explore Your Bid for Office with iPads and iPhones

Deciding to run for office has never been an easy decision, and in today’s hotly contested political arena with financial and personal costs of running soaring ever higher, the decision is only getting tougher. That’s why so many potential candidates launch exploratory committees to help them make a final decision about running for office. Voter surveys and data collection used to mean hours of phone calls or weeks spent pounding the pavement and then entering responses for days on end. Equipping your field teams with iPhone rentals and iPad rentals allows your campaign workers to quickly and easily gather data from likely voters and report it back to the candidate, making his decision to run or not a little easier. Here are just a few ways that iPads and iPhones can make your exploratory committee and campaign field operations run a little smoother.

Running for office

Testing the waters

With national and statewide campaigns frequently running into hundreds of millions of dollars, it’s not surprising that some candidates choose to test the waters before diving into a campaign. Candidates thinking about running for a major statewide or national office often launch exploratory committees to get a feel for what voters think of them or where voters in specific districts stand on the issues as they start putting together their campaign platform.

With a push for more authentic connection with potential voters and the best data possible, many campaigns are using grassroots efforts to conduct surveys and polls. Using iPhones and iPads to gather the responses of potential voters increases confidence that responses have been accurately recorded and allows review of data in real time rather than waiting for responses to be entered at a later time.

Get Out the Vote

Most campaigns and exploratory committees integrate Get Out the Vote efforts into their canvassing strategy. With most states now allowing online voter registration, equipping your team with iPads or iPhones allows them to help people register to vote during their conversation, rather than asking citizens to register at a later time. Many voters will remember that your campaign is the one that helped them register and that could influence their decision when they enter the ballot booth.

Voting on a tablet

Get voters on your side

With campaign costs growing year over year, candidates rely heavily on donations from individual donors to help fund their run for office. Giving out handbills, sending out emails, and putting up flyers seeking donations can result in low return on investment of your time and efforts. Door-to-door canvassing is one of the best (and cheapest) way to reach and gain voters – and it’s also one of the most effective for fundraising. Once you’ve set up your online campaign and fundraising, your canvassers can use iPads and iPhones to tell people about the candidate and get people to sign up to support the candidate and even to donate money to the campaign all at the same time!

Tell a story

Voters love to feel like they’re a part of the campaign beyond the voting booth. Outfitting your field team with iPads and iPhones lets them offer voters and supporters the opportunity to record their story about why they support your candidate. These stories make compelling social media content and create excitement around your candidate. The bonus? It’s free content and grassroots!

Bold Privacy Claims from Apple

smartphone privacy settings

Apple has taken a bold step ahead of CES this year with an unmissable message about the company’s privacy standards when it comes to user data. Apple is taking no prisoners in its effort to ensure that the smartphone using public knows that unlike Google and Android phones, they aren’t interested in compromising the privacy of their users’ data and that they don’t sell individual user data to advertisers to allow targeted advertising. Basically, when you use an Apple device, advertisers don’t have access to your unique advertising ID so they can’t target you. Read on to learn more about how Android products leave your data open to the prying eyes of Google – who then sells that data to advertisers.

How Google uses your data

Google provides the operating system that Android products run. This gives Google access to a large share of consumers in the smartphone marketplace and to their data. What Google does with that data may be surprising to some users. Through the use of pre-installed Google apps, you are offering up enough of your data to allow Google to sell that information to companies to create highly targeted ads for every user. From tracking where you go, how long you stay there, the articles you read, and the sites you visit, Google is able to provide advertisers with a complete portrait of who you are as a consumer and those companies are able to direct their marketing efforts directly to you thanks to Google Ads.

Use Gmail or Hangouts? Google can even parse the text of your messages to gain valuable information that it then sells to advertisers. Mention an upcoming trip to Florida that you’re planning in an email to a friend? Don’t be surprised when ads with discount hotel and flight rates to your destination city start popping up in your feed. Through the use of your Android phone and pre-installed apps, Google is able to collect more information than you know – and companies are willing to pay big bucks for that data.

using your data for marketing

Keep your data safe on Android products

The simple truth is that if you’re an Android user there’s no guaranteed way to protect your data from being collected by Google. That doesn’t mean that you have to be a pushover about it though. There are steps that you can take to try to protect your information and to make Google have to work very hard to gain access to it. Gadget Hacks recently offered a variety of clever ways to put a wall between your data and the Google collection machine.

For example, if you’re annoyed by targeted ads based on your search history, you can opt out of ad personalization. This doesn’t mean that Google won’t still collect the data, just that you can prevent the advertisers that Google sends the data to from accessing your unique advertising ID. You can also change your DNS server or use a VPN to prevent Google from collecting information about the sites you visit. VPNs provide one of the best layers of protection for your data by masking your IP address while online and by rerouting your online traffic through a secure, encrypted server.

Apple products that keep your data safer

Private data

Android devices leave your data open to collection by Google. While the practice of selling your data for advertising purposes may not be illegal, many users find this practice misleading and overly invasive. Apple products offer you a way to put a barrier between your data and Google while offering a unique user experience and without sacrificing performance. Apple may have meant for the iPhone XR to be the new introductory iPhone, but it has proven itself to be a real contender for sales against its sister releases in the X series since hitting the market in October. With its substantial size, top of the line camera, lightweight design and range of colors to express buyers’ personal style, the XR may prove to be a bigger hit with users than Apple ever thought possible. Learn more about why Apple users are raving about the iPhone XR and how it stacks up to its X series co-releases.

A real knockout

The edge-to-edge 6.1-inch LCD display screen on the iPhone XR is made of the strongest front glass ever on an iPhone thanks to a specially formulated Gorilla Glass made by Corning. With up to 256GB of internal storage and a 12-megapixel camera with 5X digital zoom and three portrait lighting effects, the XR is a delight for users in the selfie age. And its brand-designed aerospace-grade aluminum case allows it to weight slightly less than its sister models in the X series while offering more colors than any other model in the series or before. Dazzling in coral, blue, white, yellow, black, and project red, the XR has a color to suit every user’s taste.

The XR vs the XS

The iPhone XS features a slightly smaller screen size, coming in at 5.8-inch, but offers an OLED display featuring the same Gorilla Glass as the XR model. The XS ups the wow factor for users with a dual 12-megapixel camera with 10X digital zoom that offers five portrait lighting effects. Users of the XS are more limited in their choice of case colors. The stainless-steel body of the XS is offered in gold, silver, and space grey.

The XR vs the XS Max

The XS Max boasts an impressive 6.5-inch OLED display and stainless-steel body in the same colors as the XS. Featuring the same dual 12-megapixel camera with 10X digital zoom and five portrait lighting effects as the XS, the XS Max also tops out at 512GB of internal storage. The upgraded screen size and large memory make the XS Max the costliest of the iPhone X series.

how to rent an iPhone with Rentacomputer.com

Not so basic

The iPhone XR offers many of the same features that iPhone users have come to expect from higher-end models, making it a bang for your buck at only $749 to $899 – a $100 savings over the starting range of other phones in the X series. While its sister releases can claim slightly upgraded cameras and storage capacity, the XR is the best introductory iPhone that Apple has ever produced.

If you need a number of the latest iPhones, including the XR, XS and XS Max, for a business event or meeting, why not save money and try a rental? Our sister company,  Rentacomputer.com, proudly provides a wide array of iPhone rentals and Android rentals to suit all of your smartphone rental needs. Do You Need Lots Of iPads?

lots of ipads

Click For Video

Have you ever wondered how companies get their hands on hundreds of laptops, computers or iPads that you see on the web, TV and all kinds of conventions? Well, 9 times out of 10 they don’t just buy all of the technology just for one event, so how do they get it? The answer: a rental from a company like RentOurTablets.com

Technology is expensive, is it not? I know for a fact that I can’t go out and buy a brand new iPad whenever I want to. The more advanced technology gets, the more expensive it seems to get as well. Owning new devices can cost so much these days. Mind you that this isn’t just for personal use either. If you need a lot of iPads for one occasion, you could be looking into quite the price tag depending on the number that you need. Purchasing many devices at one time could definitely break the business budget. I don’t know about you, but I’m not the biggest fan of ultra large price tags (who is though?). This why there are rentals for tech devices like this. That’s right! You can rent iPads for any occasion should you want to!

iPad: Computer or Device?

Clearly the iPhone is a device with a computer built-in, yet we don’t call it a computer. The iPad is just a larger version of the iPhone, making it a device rather than a computer. Hold on a minute. The iPad has features not available on the iPhone. Here is a brief breakdown of some of the features that make the iPad a computer, rather than a device.

Full Safari Browser
Just like an MacBook Pro, the Safari browser is one of the best ways to surf the web on a computer. But surfing is even better that with a standard computer due to multi-touch technology.

Big Screen like a MacBook

If you plan to view movies, websites and movies, you need to upgrade to a computer like iPad.  A vivid backlit display makes photos look best in this price class for any Apple computer.

iPads are available for rent

Bigger Screen Connectivity

The iPad like any Apple computer can be connected to a projector, plasma or lcd just like a computer.  Use the iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter to connect an iPad to your television, projector, or VGA display. Then see your videos and slideshows on the big screen just like a MacBook Pro.

If I had to vote, I would say the iPad is both a Computer and a Device. Kinda like a tomato being both a fruit and a vegetable.
